The Government of Bangladesh has reaffirmed its commitment to modernising the country’s information and broadcasting sector through a series of digital transformation initiatives aimed at strengthening public media services. Speaking in Parliament, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon outlined plans to develop a technology-driven and internationally competitive broadcasting industry.

Among the key initiatives are the gradual introduction of a **Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT)** broadcasting system for Bangladesh Television (BTV) and the continued digital transformation of Bangladesh Betar (BB), including the expansion of its online and mobile application-based services. The government is also increasing the use of modern digital technologies across its public broadcasting and information agencies.

In addition, Bangladesh is expanding digital public information services, enhancing media professionals’ skills through training and capacity-building programmes, and strengthening cooperation with international broadcasting organisations. The initiatives form part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise the media sector, improve public access to information, and align the country’s broadcasting industry with global developments.
