THE SECRETARY-GENERAL’S OFFICE

Driving Strategy. Strengthening Unity. Delivering Impact.

The Office of the Secretary-General serves as the central coordinating body of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), providing strategic guidance and ensuring effective coordination across the Union’s governance, operations, international projects, and regional engagement.

The Office plays a key role in supporting the ABU Administrative Council, General Assembly, and Planning and Strategy Group, helping to ensure that the Union’s decision-making processes are well-coordinated, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of its members.

It also leads and facilitates international initiatives and cross-sector partnerships, working closely with member organisations, development partners, industry stakeholders, and regional institutions to advance ABU’s priorities in media development, innovation, climate action, disaster preparedness, digital transformation, and public service broadcasting.

Through strong coordination, communication, and institutional support, the Secretary-General’s Office helps strengthen unity across the ABU membership and ensures that the Union remains responsive, forward-looking, and impactful across the Asia-Pacific region.
