Membership Categories

The ABU offers a range of membership categories to accommodate broadcasters, media organisations, and industry partners across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. To ensure that members receive the most relevant opportunities and services, the ABU offers several membership categories based on an organisation’s nature and activities.
Each category has its own eligibility criteria and provides access to the extensive network, programmes, events, and collaborative opportunities available through the ABU. Select the category that best reflects your organisation to learn more about the eligibility requirements and benefits.

Full Membership

For national free-to-air broadcasters in independent countries. Includes full access to ABU initiatives and voting rights in key decisions.

Additional Full Membership

For broadcasters in non-independent regions. Offers similar benefits to Full Members, with limited voting rights.

Associate Membership

For broadcasters, media organisations, and industry associations. Access to ABU resources and programmes, without voting rights.

Affiliate Membership

For organisations connected to the broadcasting industry. Engage, collaborate, and support regional media development.

Institutional Membership

For international organisations by invitation. Focused on strategic partnerships and global collaboration.

Application Process

Joining the ABU is a straightforward process.
Step 1 – Choose Membership Category
Review the available membership categories and select the one that best suits your organisation.
Step 2 – Submit Application
Complete and submit the application form together with the required supporting documents.
Step 3 – Review Process
The ABU Secretariat will review your application and may request additional information if needed.
Step 4 – Approval
Applications are assessed and approved in accordance with the ABU Constitution and membership procedures.
Step 5 – Welcome to ABU
Once approved and formalities are completed, your organisation will become an ABU member with full access to member benefits and services.
