2020 Engineering Awards Winners

The first ever virtual ABU TC Meeting was held on 24-25 November.  The meeting was attended by over 100 participants on both days.

The meeting began with the opening and welcome addresses by the TC Chairman and ABU Secretary-General.  This was followed by the ABU Engineering Awards 2020 announcements.

Several interesting presentations during the TC were:

• Dante Audio Implementation in Broadcast workflow, Benchmark Broadcast Systems
• Interactive Video Content Production Model of Mango TV-China
• The BBC, COVID and changes to radio production and
• The Voice of Vietnam’s technical supports/activities during Covid-19

Mr Sunil, Additional Director General (Engineering) & Head International Relations of Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan-India delivered the Keynote titled Director to Mobile Broadcasting.

A report on ABU’s Study Topic on Production was heard from Mr Kazim Pektaz of TRT-Turkey. Mr Kenichi Murayama of NHK-Japan delivered the report on the Transmission Topic Area.

The TC adopted a Decision on Adding a Force Majeure Clause to the ABU Technical Committee Rules of Procedure and a Recommendation on Supporting the WBU Cybersecurity Recommendations on Broadcasters’ Use of Cloud-based Services.

The meeting was on Zoom Webinar which enabled participants to chat with each other and ask questions.
