Journalism experts to converge in Kuala Lumpur

Experts and scholars will discuss the immediate future of journalism at the 2026 Asiavision Coordinators’ Meeting, scheduled for January 21–22 at the Perdana Kuala Lumpur City Centre in Malaysia.

The event features a distinguished lineup, including Kati Bremme (Head of Innovation & Foresight at France Télévisions), Emilio San Pedro (Head of Eurovision News Exchange, EBU), and Ahmet Görmez (Deputy Director General of TRT Türkiye and ABU News Chair). Other notable speakers include Dr. Seemantani Sharma (Legal Manager, ABU), Andrew Davies (Head of Radio, ABU), Kalinga Seneviratne (Honorary Research Fellow, Shinawatra University), and Dr. Muhammad Naim Muhamad Ali (UOW Malaysia).

Under the theme “Bridging the Asia-Pacific: One Story, Many Voices,” the two-day meeting will bring together coordinators and media experts from across the region.

The agenda includes strategic discussions, case studies on disaster coverage, a review of Asiavision’s annual performance, and sessions on integrating AI strategies into the newsroom.

The event aims to enhance content quality, regional storytelling, and information sharing among member organizations. By sharing actionable insights and best practices, industry leaders and academics seek to reinforce Asiavision’s commitment to credible journalism and a unified regional news voice.
