EBU ready to provide US election support

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) invites ABU members to take the opportunity on their flexible and cost-effective stand-up positions for their news coverage.
Speaking during a webinar, Andreas Beckwith, Head of Partnerships at Eurovision said, “We can offer anything from a simple, unmanned stand-up position with just internet and power, to a complex five-camera setup, depending on the requirements,”
“On the night of the US elections and the days surrounding it, we have three properties with views of the White House that we can provide,” Andreas explained. “This gives our members the opportunity to secure stand-up positions in highly sought-after locations, with options ranging from simple setups to more complex multi-camera configurations.
Emilie De Schaetzen, Head of News Events and Content at Eurovision emphasized the importance of early planning, particularly for high-profile events like the US elections, to ensure availability and optimal positioning. She also highlighted the team’s willingness to work with members’ budgets and alternative distribution methods, such as IP-based solutions, to make the coverage more accessible.
“We understand that budgets can be a concern, so we’re always looking for ways to collaborate and find solutions that work for our members,” Emilie said. “Whether it’s a simple stand-up or a more comprehensive election setup, we’re here to support our partners in delivering the best possible coverage,” she added.
Eurovision also has coverage plans for other major global events, including the APEC forum in Peru, the G20 in Brazil, COP29 in Azerbaijan, and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The webinar provided ABU members with an understanding of the stand-up and services offered by Eurovision, making the organization a valuable partner in expanding their global event coverage.
