Bridging Asia-Pacific: One story, many voices
Ascending to a new tier in its journey of over four decades, the Asiavision news exchange of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has opened the first event of its busy annual calendar, the Asiavision Coordinators Meeting 2026, introducing two new state-of-the-art features for its daily news exchange operations.
The new additions—real-time live feeds and integrated audio features for its member base—were announced by Ahmet Gomez, ABU News Group Chair and Deputy Director General of TRT Türkiye, at the Asiavision Coordinators Meeting 2026, which commenced on Wednesday (21st of January) at the Perdana Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

The event saw the participation of over 50 journalists representing Asiavision member organizations and media experts under the theme: “Bridging Asia-Pacific: One Story, Many Voices.”
Summit proceedings were initiated by Indra Singh, ABU Director of News, who warmly welcomed participants. AVN members who had shown outstanding performance in their daily offerings for the network were awarded at the beginning of the event.
During the two-day event, several key topics were explored, including:
- Navigating Legal and Ethical Issues in News Exchange
- Member Showcases and Case Study Presentations
- Cultural Perspectives and Grassroots SDG Reporting
- Building AI Strategies in Newsrooms
- Redesigning Journalism through Newsroom Labs
- Empowering Journalists through Media and Information Literacy (MIL)
Participants expressed a desire to fully engage with the proceedings to ensure they achieved the maximum outcome from the event.
