AVN members request for more human interest stories
During a recent online editorial meeting, Asiavision (AVN) members have reiterated their desire for more human-interest stories to be shared within the exchange.
The monthly online editors meeting included members from FBC Fiji, NHK Japan, TV5 Mongolia, Pasifika TV New Zealand, ABS-CBN Philippines, CNA Singapore, MTV Sri Lanka, SLRC Sri Lanka, and TRT Türkiye
Discussion centred around a growing trend shows that feature stories consistently receive the most views and downloads.
A key highlight of the meeting was the launch of AVN News Bites, a new digital initiative.
This series spotlights short feature stories specifically curated for Asiavision members and is available on AVN’s Facebook page.
It focuses on “feel-good” and human-interest content, which is proving popular with AVN audiences. SLRC Sri Lanka specifically praised these initiatives, noting that they have provided its newsroom with valuable content.
Many members also expressed enthusiasm for joining the AVN WhatsApp group, which aims to facilitate faster coordination and the exchange of updates among member editors.
Indra Singh was introduced as the current Director of News at ABU. Singh, a former Director of News at FBC Fiji, has been actively involved with ABU projects and initiatives for the past decade.
Plans for the next Asiavision Coordinators’ Meeting was announced for January 2026, with Kuala Lumpur under consideration as the host location.
Also 2026 Global News Forum will be held in Sydney, Australia. Further details will be shared in the coming months.
