Asiavision members plan tsunami anniversary coverage

Asiavision coordinators and editors are finalising coverage plans for the 20th anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami.

Asiavision newsrooms in the worst hit countries – Indonesia (TVRI), Thailand (Thai PBS and MCOT), Sri Lanka (SLRC), India (DD India) and the Maldives (PSM), will share stories with all Asiavision members.

Stories will include updates on people featured in news coverage at the time and visits to areas most affected by the 2004 tsunami. Reporter as-lives and PTCs will also be available.

The tsunami on 26 December 2004 was one of the deadliest natural disasters of all time, killing more than 227,000 people in 14 countries.

The content special was the focus of the last Asiavision editors’ meeting for 2024, held on 4 December.
