ABU News Group represents AIB Executive Committee for 2026-2028

The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has confirmed the composition of its Executive Committee (ExCo) for the 2026–2028 term. The new line-up reinforces the influence of the Asia-Pacific region, with key leaders from the Asiavision membership taking roles in the organisation’s global governance.

Ahmet Görmez, the ABU News Group Chair and Deputy Director General at TRT (Türkiye), has been appointed to the Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term. Görmez joins the ExCo following an uncontested nomination, bringing decades of experience in international journalism and conflict reporting to the table. His appointment coincides with the AIB’s first implementation of a staggered election system, aimed at strengthening leadership continuity.

Nesryn Bouziane, ABU News Group Vice-Chair and Lead of International Broadcast and Digital Services at the ABC (Australia), continues her tenure on the Committee through to March 2027. Bouziane’s ongoing involvement ensures that the strategic priorities of the Asia-Pacific remain a focus during the organisation’s transition to its new governance structure.

Joining fellow regional leaders on the Executive Committee is Craig Dale, Chief Editor at CNA, Mediacorp (Singapore). As a continuing member whose term also runs until March 2027, Dale provides editorial expertise and institutional knowledge. His role at CNA, one of the region’s leading news platforms, offers the ExCo insights into the evolving digital and broadcast landscape of Southeast Asia.

For ABU members, the combined representation of Ahmet Görmez, Nesryn Bouziane, and Craig Dale highlights the critical role of Asia-Pacific broadcasters in shaping the future of international media.
