The GNF returns to Australia after a decade
Preparations for the 2026 Global News Forum, hosted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), are well underway. There is growing excitement surrounding a significant shift in format compared to previous editions.
The forum is scheduled for September 2–4 at the ABC’s iconic headquarters in Ultimo, downtown Sydney. This marks the first time since 2016 that the meeting will be held in Australia, with this year’s agenda focusing heavily on the mental health and wellbeing of media professionals.
ABU Director of News, Indra Singh, recently visited Sydney to coordinate with the ABC and expressed enthusiasm for the preparations.
“It has been ten years since our valued member, the ABC, last hosted this forum. This is an exciting opportunity for our members to work within the walls of a broadcaster recognized globally for its excellence,” Singh said.
“A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes. Attendees will experience a refreshed format for the annual meeting, alongside world-class Australian hospitality. While we are prioritizing the wellbeing of our people, the program will also feature essential sessions on leadership, AI, and industry-wide mental health challenges.”
Registrations open soon, as do entries for the annual Asiavision Awards, which will be held on the second night of the forum.
